Business After 5
The Auburn Education Foundation seeks to support and enrich the learning environment of students in the Auburn Enlarged City School district through, among other things, funding and collaboration. As part of its mission to support education through collaboration, AEF partnered with the Auburn Enlarged City School District to co-sponsor the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 September event, held at Auburn High Schoool. BOCES students enrolled in the BOCES Culinary Arts Department catered the event.
Members of the business community, AECSD, and AEF Boards of Directors toured the technology classrooms, where students regularly work with robotics, design, 3-D printing, along with participation in engineering and woodworking projects. Two of the pieces of equipment in the technology classrooms were teacher generated grant proposals funded by AEF.
AEF is proud to expand opportunities to students in the AECSD. Business After 5 provided a chance to showcase the work of the district and highlight the BOCES Culinary Arts department. The ability of our high school students to apply technology, apply critical thinking skills and collaboration to solve problems were prominently displayed through featured student work.
The AEF Board of Directors would like to thank the AECSD, BOCES Culinary Arts Department, Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce, business leaders, and other community members who helped make the event a success. Finally a shout out to the students and Auburn High School technology teachers for their many successes.
