50th Reunion Class Gives Back. The East High class of 1958 honored the memory their deceased classmates by making a Memorial Contribution to the Auburn Education Foundation.

Winter Magic 2008

The gala dinner dance was held on Saturday, March 1, 2008. Featuring the music of the popular Mario DeSantis Orchestra, this event was enjoyed by all who attended.

5th Annual Golf Classic

Community members, school officials, and district vendors will gather at Dutch Hollow Golf and Country Club in Owasco on Monday, June 30, 2008 for our annual golf tournament. Participants will enjoy a great day of sunshine, camaraderie, entertaining golf, delicious food and exciting prizes. Proceeds from the event benefit our educator grants program.

Character Matters

First grade and third grade students at Casey Park Elementary School partnered to produce and perform a literature-based musical that reinforces the character education traits being taught in the school.

Students took on the roles of famous storybook characters who were seeking wisdom from a council of advisors -- Rapunzel, Witch Judy and the Handsome Prince -- about various character issues. In addition to the character lessons taught, students took pride in their efforts and gained confidence on stage. When not performing, the third-graders were eagerly assisting their younger buddies with school work.

Mileage Club

Students at Genesee Elementary School use pedometers to track their daily walking distances while participating in the extracurricular Mileage Club.

A group of children meets several times a week before school to walk the halls of the building. The goal is to get them to increase their daily exercise. Students enjoy the company of friends while earning various incentives based upon the miles that they achieve. Teachers have seen marked improvement in weight control and fitness scores as a result.

Inside Out Character Club

Educators at Herman Ave. Elementary School partnered with members of Calvary Presbyterian Church to provide an after-school program to help students develop better social skills.

Students participated in a number of activities that were designed to introduce and model social skills such as manners, teamwork, and respect so that they would have an easier time getting along with their classmates and teachers. Parents and educators were pleased with the improved behavior that the students demonstrated.

Fitness Counts

High school students used pedometers while taking part in a walking club to develop better fitness routines.

The relationship between eating habit and activity levels was reinforced in an outside walking club. Students were encouraged to walk more frequently and at greater distances in combination with making better food choices in an effort to help them control their weight.
